Jessica Baudin-Griffin

Jessica Baudin-Griffin (B.Ed) is a movement educator from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, with over 15 years of dance education experience. After receiving her degree in Special Education and working in early intervention and youth intervention education programs for local school boards and government agencies, Jessica decided to pursue her dream of becoming a full-time movement educator after the birth of her first daughter in 2006. Focusing on community based, inclusive programming for young families at her dance studio, J'Adore Dance, she has created more than a dozen original dance programs. During this time she continued to study the critical connection between movement and development in children during the first five years of life. When her second daughter was born in 2008, she formally launched the Intellidance® programs. The Intellidance® Method Certification program was launched soon after in 2010.

Thousands of families in the greater Edmonton area have participated in Jessica's award winning Intellidance® classes, which combine movement, music, and play to support early development and the caregiver-child connection. Jessica has trained professionals from all over the world in the Intellidance® Method, using conceptual dance and holistic teaching practices to increase the awareness of the benefits of developmentally appropriate early childhood dance education and experiences. Jessica is a sought after presenter in conceptual dance education and contributor to local family focused publications on child development, parenting, and creativity. Jessica has witnessed the joy the Intellidance® programs bring the families at her studio and is thrilled to take her programs and teaching resources to communities world wide!

Annie McConville

Annie has danced since she could walk and it has always been her true passion. Having had the privilege of training in many dance styles including finishing her Grade 6 RAD and Checchetti ballet,  ISTD Jazz and Tap, she furthered her education, studied contemporary and obtained a Bachelor (HONS) Degree in Dance and Choreography at the University of Chichester in England.

Finishing university Annie successfully obtained a position to dance in the closing ceremonies of the London Olympics 2012, "It was the biggest performance of my life!"

The creative nature that dance can ignite has always interested her and as such choreography has become one of Annie's main focuses. Since joining J'Adore Dance she has had the pleasure of watching children delve into the creative processes of dance and explore choreography in a whole different light.  She completed her Certification in Integrative Dance from Rhythm Works, maintains her First Aid and CPR and has now completed her Intellidance® Certification.

"The imagination and innate creativity of children never ceases to amaze me; I look forward to furthering my career and sharing my passion for dance with as many people as possible".

Bridget Jessome

Bridget was introduced to dance in junior high when she began attending Victoria School of Visual and Performing Arts. She quickly fell in love and has continued to pursue dance as a career ever since.  She has extensive knowledge in choreography and dance interpretation with a BFA in Contemporary Dance from Concordia University in Montreal. During her time at Concordia she was trained by a number of prominent dance professionals and worked with some of Canada’s most promising emerging choreographers. Since graduating she has moved back to Edmonton and has worked with For Body & Light, Mile Zero Dance, Peggy Baker, Ainsley Hillyard, and Sophia Wright.

She completed the Internship program with J'Adore dance teaching the Creative Jazz Ballet curriculum and recently completed her Intellidance® Certification. She is thrilled to be part of such a joyful and inclusive community for youth and is excited to continue sharing her love of dance with the Intellidance® and J'Adore community.

Chantel Sampson

When you dance, your purpose is not to get to a certain place on the floor. It’s to enjoy each step along the way. ~Wayne Dyer

Chantel Sampson has been dancing since the age of three. A lifelong passion for dance has continued to fuel her spirit. Her background includes tap, jazz, ballet, contemporary, modern, ballroom, and Irish Dance. She has studied and trained under many talented teachers from across Canada and the United States. During university, her parents exposed her to the world of ballroom dance where she met her husband and lifelong dance partner. After extensive training with coaches from across Canada and the United States and seven successful years in competition including three top 3 placements at the Canadian Championships, Chantel felt it was time to explore a new genre of dance and began training in Irish Dance. Her Adult Ceili team holds three North American Irish Dance Championship titles and an All Ireland Ceili Championship title. Chantel is a member of the Performing Arts Medical Association and Dance Teacher Web. Through both of these organizations she continues to further her training in the areas of dance education and dancer wellness.

Chantel received her Bachelor of Education degree with distinction in Elementary Education from the University of Alberta in 1998 and has always brought her love of dance into her teaching. Over the past eight years, Chantel has implemented dance programs in three Edmonton Catholic Schools. She currently teaches dance programs to 700 wonderful and enthusiastic elementary and junior high students and believes that every child should have the opportunity to express themselves through dance.

Chantel embraces the philosophy of dance as a universal form of expression. In 2007, after many years of teaching school and community-based dance programs, Chantel founded her own dance company, “For The Love of Dance”. Her teaching provides children and adults an opportunity to explore different dance and movement styles in a non-competitive, supportive environment.  For Chantel, dance is a family affair and she has always been excited to share dance with her parents, husband, and three beautiful children. She is happiest when on the dance floor.

“I met Jessica nine years ago and was excited to find another dance educator whose philosophy about dance education mirrored my own. Joining the J’Adore Dance family a few years ago gave me the opportunity to share my passion for dance with a new community and work alongside many talented dance educators. I am excited to partner with Jessica to continue to develop and expand J’Adore Dance in the delivery of inclusive, noncompetitive dance in Edmonton.”

Hanna Moore

Hanna has been dancing since the young age of three and has loved every moment of it. She has trained with many different studios including Sherwood Park School of dance, Alberta Ballet Summer Intensive program, and the Vimy Ridge pre-professional dance program. She was trained in many styles of dance including RAD and checchetti ballet methods, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, modern, hip hop, Irish, and tap. Hanna's favourite style of dance has always been classical ballet and she has won many awards and scholarships over the years. Hanna has spent many years assisting young dancers. This is her first year assisting with J'Adore Dance and learning all about creative dance. She looks forward to working with young dancers and passing on her love of dance to future generations. Teaching dance is such a rewarding job; Hanna loves watching young dancers fall in love with the art in every class. She looks forward to continuing her work with the J'Adore Dance family.

Jenna Brenan

Jenna is thrilled to be a part of the Intellidance® Family! Jenna is the Co-Owner and Artistic Director of Sessional Programming at J’Adore Dance. She has been enjoying dance since the age of four. Jenna trained locally in a variety of styles such as jazz, tap, ballet, hip hop, and musical theatre. As an adult, she has continued to take lessons and perform in styles such as hip hop, tap, ballet, modern, jazz and Irish. Jenna has been a dance specialist teacher with Edmonton Public Schools for the past ten years. She has taught classes to a variety of ages at Victoria School of the Performing Arts and Afton School of the Arts. In 2015, Jenna was inspired to continue her professional development in early childhood while taking the Intellidance® Method Certification course with Jessica Baudin-Griffin. She was also fortunate to take the Summer Dance Institute for Teachers with Terry Goetz, Anna Mansbridge, and Anne Green Gilbert at the Seattle Creative Dance Center this past summer and increase her understanding of brain-compatible teaching methods and BrainDance. Jenna continues to share her love for dance not only with her students but also with her two little boys at home.

Liesa Mckay

Liesa began dancing at the age of 3 at her mother’s studio. It was here that she first discovered her love of movement and dance. Liesa’s sister Vanessa and her niece Kiana also began dancing at the same young age, making three generations of dancers in the family! Liesa trained in many dance disciplines including Jazz, Contemporary, Hip-Hop, Musical Theatre, and Ballet, which remains her first love.

Liesa has been given the opportunity to perform in many dance productions, including the role of Clara in Alberta Ballet’s “The Nutcracker”. Liesa has presented her own original choreography in Dancers’ Studio West Showcase, Dance Explosions. She can still be found helping her mom choreograph dance classes, and rehearsing them in their home studio, also known as the kitchen!

After completing her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Alberta, Liesa wanted to find a new and exciting way to share her love of dance. The fun and welcoming atmosphere of J'Adore Dance was the perfect fit. Liesa is very excited to be teaching the Intellidance® classes and can’t wait to share her love of dance, excitement, and enthusiasm with her classes!

Marguerite Rushworth

Marguerite grew up in a household steeped in dance and music. She started highland dancing at the age of 3 and competed until the age of 24. Bagpiping went hand-in-hand with her dance career, and from the age of 7 she lived, breathed, and worked for dance and music. Marguerite has taught music, dance, and music leadership training programs for 10 years to students in BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Northwestern Ontario, and created and ran a music training curriculum to assist young instructors to acheive their goals of teaching by running a school of music under qualified music teachers. With Deaf Culture and Language and Special Needs Education Assistant Certificates, Marguerite has worked with a variety of pre-school and school-aged children and is excited to back in the Edmonton area after running Intellidance® classes in Winnipeg!

Melanie Smith-Doderai

Melanie Smith-Doderai holds a B.A, B.Ed and M.Ed. Melanie is an active member of the Alberta Registered Music Teachers Association, holds an Advanced Specialist Certification from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Canada, and has written / published ten theory books for string instruments through Mel Bay Publications. In addition to her musical pursuits, Melanie has extensive training in pre/post-natal fitness, ballroom dance, Intellidance, creative movement for children, and aerial arts.

At present, Melanie is a busy mom to two lovely children, an ECS music specialist with Elk Island Catholic Schools, a private violin teacher, and a dedicated fitness instructor. Melanie believes that a well-rounded arts program in the hands of a skilled and dedicated teacher will foster an enduring love of the music and movement in all students.

Nikol Robbins

Nikol started dance at the age of 4, and has loved it ever since! She began dancing competitively at age 8, in the styles of ballet, jazz, contemporary, modern and hip hop, and has studied RAD ballet and ADAPT jazz technique and examinations. Nikol competed both in southern Ontario, and in many different regions in northern Alberta, winning several scholarships and awards. When she was 14, Nikol had the opportunity to dance with her studio in Disneyland, participating in workshops with renowned choreographers, and danced on the Disneyland stage, and in the parade. After graduating high school, Nikol was accepted into the Contemporary Dance Major program at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, and completed a year in studies at that institution, working hard at technique, and exploring her more creative side as well. Currently, Nikol has completed her Intellidance® Certification, loves teaching at J'Adore Dance, and is studying Nutrition and Food Science at the University of Alberta. She will be entering a career as a Registered Dietitian after completing her requirements, and hopes to continue dancing, and inspiring healthy, active lifestyles!

Nikol maintains her First Aid and CPR-C.

Pamela McTavish

From an early age, Pamela has always been actively involved with music and dance. Her enthusiasm for both eventually led her to a B.A. in Music Therapy from Eastern Michigan University. She practiced music therapy with adults and children for over 10 years before moving to Edmonton with her husband. Pamela also has a passion for fitness. Upon arriving in Edmonton, she developed and implemented a fitness and recreation program for adults with developmental disabilities.

After becoming a new mother, Pamela was looking for a way to bring her passion and excitement for music and movement to the life of her son, James. She fell in love with Intellidance immediately, and is looking forward to sharing it with other mothers and babies!

Tegan Richards

Tegan has been passionate about movement and dance from a very young age. At 7 years old, she took her first Irish dance class which took her passion of dance to a new level as she loved the intensity and feeling of Irish dancing. As years progressed, she trained in multiple schools including Knock, Marr-Mac, and Edmonton School of Ballet, and programs such as Edmonton School of Ballet Summer Intensive. Eventually her passion for dance became focused on Classical Ballet, and she began to devote her energy to Ballet along with Lyrical. In addition to Ballet, Lyrical, and Irish Dance, she has had the opportunity to study Contemporary and Jazz. Tegan also grew up in musical theatre, taking workshops from the Citadel Theatre and performing in multiple shows from the ages of 8 - 18. She spent many years studying voice, violin, and bass guitar, and played in multiple bands and had many performance opportunities. Tegan is currently working to complete her BA Sociology with a minor in psychology as well as her Intellidance® Certification.  She also holds a diploma in Business management.

Tegan has a passion for teaching children and helping them learn in positive environments. In addition to teaching dance, she has had the opportunity to lead sport camps, and work as a teachers assistant in a specialized learning program. With a daughter of her own who is passionate about dancing, she sees first hand the confidence, creativity, and joy that dancing provides.

Tessa Hornbeck

Tessa may be new to the J'Adore family, but she is not new to teaching or dance. A graduate from the University of Alberta Education program, she was an elementary school teacher for seven years and dancer for many more.

Receiving her Bachelor of Education degree with distinction in Elementary Education in 1999, Tessa was excited to add Intellidance® certification to her repertoire.

Even though she’s taken breaks from dancing to commit to other pursuits, she has always come back to dance.  A background in dance was the perfect starting point for other physical endeavors where flexibility, body awareness and core strength were important components. Now, back dancing as an adult, Tessa relishes the opportunity to tap into her creativity and cultivate friendships in the dance world.

“You are my Sunshine” was the first song and dance Tessa performed on stage at the age of five. Years later, she’s still singing and dancing, only this time she is dancing back-up to her two little girls at home.
