Jayme Macdougall

Dance has been a part of Jayme’s life since the age of three. When Jayme began teaching dance she quickly realized that the preschool program was her passion. She followed this calling in her Post-Secondary Education and received a Bachelor of Education with a minor in Early Childhood Education at the University of Alberta.

Jayme was a school teacher for ten years in grades five, six, and kindergarten. She continued to be a preschool dance instructor at the Ward School of Dance during her teaching career because of her love for dancing and sharing that love with her students. After the birth of her daughter, she took a leave of absence from her school division and concentrated on her passion for teaching dance.

Jayme is excited to be embarking on the new journey of becoming an Intellidance instructor. She is looking forward to sharing her passion for children and her love of being a mom with other parents and their wee ones. The Intellidance program will be a perfect extension to her dedicated career in teaching and her love of dance, music and movement.

She has also performed at various events within Edmonton and area such has Hip Hop for Hope, Artist’s Emerge, Leaps and Bounds at the Eva O. Howard theatre, and the opening ceremonies for the Alberta Winter Games of 2012.

While studying at the University of Alberta, Tessa began assistant teaching and realized her love of dancing had bloomed into a passion for dance instruction as well. She began teaching Preschool classes at Ward in 2012. Since then, Tessa has pursued higher levels of dance instruction education to further her technique and teaching methods. Tessa is certified in both Module 1 and Module 2 of the Acrobatic Arts syllabus and has spearheaded the Acro program at Ward. Tessa’s work with children in her professional life greatly assists in understanding how to be a better teacher and role model in the dance studio. She has been able to combine her work with children with special needs and her love of dance by teaching the Dance Without Limits program at Ward in collaboration with the Cerebral Palsy Association.

Dance has always been the greatest joy in Tessa’s life, and she cannot wait to take on another year of teaching, learning, and fun!
